Global Information Technology Awards Foundation Pays Tribute to Innovative Institutions Using Information Technology to Benefit Society
Wyse Technology, the inventor and global leader in cloud client computing, today announced that three customers have been recognized as Laureates by the Computerworld Honors Program. Beech Grove City Schools, Kool Smiles and Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS) were commemorated during the 22nd Annual Laureates Medal Ceremony & Gala Awards Evening on June 7, 2010 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C. For over two decades, Computerworld Honors has acknowledged those individuals and organizations that have used information technology to benefit society. Beech Grove City Schools was also further awarded as one of the top 5 finalists within their Education and Academia category due to their outstanding innovations within the information technology field.
"Wyse is honored to have three customers from diverse backgrounds and industries recognized through this prestigious award," said Maryam Alexandrian, Senior Vice President Worldwide Sales and Channels at Wyse. "Each organization's achievements is significant in improving security, user experience, and reducing operating cost. We applaud them for their efforts."
The Computerworld Honors Program unites Chairmen and CEOs of the world's foremost information technology companies to recognize the most outstanding user achievements in technology each year. The technology achievements honored by this program are preserved and protected in national archives, and in over 350 universities, museums, and research institutions throughout the world.
Each year, members of the Chairmen's Committee, a group of 100 Chairman/CEOs of global technology companies, nominates individuals and organizations around the world whose visionary applications of information technology promotes positive social and economic progress.
"We are honored to be recognized for having used an innovative technology solution to achieve our education goals and implement the best technology solution for the district," said Teresa Kratzer, Director of IT at Beech Grove City Schools in Indiana. "The end result is that the education of our children has improved. This would not be possible without the adoption of Wyse cloud computing and thin client solutions."
"It means a lot to all of us at Kool Smiles to be recognized for our benefits towards society, it means our technology is indeed supporting our mission to expand dental care for underserved communities," said Mark Blomquist, Chief Technical Architect serving Kool Smiles in Atlanta. "The Wyse team has been has been such a pleasure to work with, that it has made our decision to deploy desktop virtualization across our organization an easy one."
Independent of the Laureate recognition, the Computerworld Honors Program also annually presents its Leadership Awards, each designed to honor the extraordinary achievements of selected individuals whose positive contributions to the IT revolution have left an indelible mark on the world.
"When we first examined virtual desktops for our organization, we measured the success or failure of the deployment against straightforward business metrics," according to Tim Ragland, CIO at MDHS. "While we have been extremely satisfied with the performance of our virtual clients from a bottom line perspective, Wyse helped us see the benefits of virtual desktops as a humanitarian and disaster recovery solution after Hurricane Katrina. Our department was able to help more people in need faster than ever before because of our virtual client implementation."
"Each Laureate selected for this honor understands the importance of using one’s resources and technical prowess to benefit one’s fellow man," said Bob Carrigan, Chairman of the Computerworld Honors Program Chairmen’s Committee and CEO of IDG Communications Worldwide.
